Well, the foundation is laid and it’s time to build! With WordPress Core moving closer and closer to full site editing and our block focused plugins and themes maturing, we’re now able to give even more time to growing the library of design and template resources. AKA Collections. If you update to the latest version of Genesis Blocks Pro you’ll see that we’ve introduced two new Collections. Introducing Altitude and Infinity.

These Collections and all their page layouts and sections are now one-click-available in the Genesis Blocks Pro plugin.
Hol’ up! What are Collections?
If Collections are a bit of a new concept to you, let me walk you through how they work. In a nutshell, the block editor (Gutenberg) is changing the way sites are built with WordPress. Everything is built with “blocks”. Collections are pre-built, beautifully crafted, and conversion optimized page sections and full-page layouts of blocks. They leverage the best of both WordPress Core blocks and Genesis Blocks and are installable on any page in WordPress in just a couple of clicks. Being blocks, everything is editable. They are effectively the ultimate instant-gratification for content creators, with all the content easily tweakable.
Let’s have a quick look at what it’s like to install the Infinity collection, one of our two most recent releases.
This Collection and all our others are available via Genesis Blocks Pro.
Building your own Collections
It’s worth knowing as well, especially if you’re a freelancer or agency, that Collections are something that you can DIY. The way modern WordPress works and the way we’ve engineered the Genesis Blocks plugin means that it’s super easy to build your own custom Collections that you can provide to clients or customers. I have right here a tutorial that walks you through exactly how it’s done. There’s even a link to the plugin that the tutorial guides you through so you can dive deeper into how it’s all set up.
All in all, Collections are one of the best examples of how you can scale site and content creation in the modern WordPress context. Every WordPress freelancer and agency I’ve talked to is closely watching this space and carefully considering how they adjust to better embrace the modern WordPress block editor. Leveraging block patterns via mechanisms like Collections is quickly becoming a powerful tool for creating efficiencies in workflows.
Keep watching this space! We’re working on more Collections as I type and we’ll be releasing them to you soon.
